The Grand American Road Racing Association was founded in 1999 with the goal of reinvigorating American road racing. Entering its ninth season of competition in 2008, the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve includes the Daytona Prototype and Grand Touring classes.

Drew started in the series last year driving a Pontiac for Racers Edge Motorsports. Pontiac models have campaigned in the GT class from its inception, and the GTO.R program was launched in 2005. The Pontiac GXP.R is the next step in the evolution of Pontiac’s GT class championship program. Pontiac and GM Racing, together with Pratt & Miller Engineering, spent the latter part of the ’06 season re-designing and fabricating the all new GXP.R. Racers Edge Motorsports is campaigning the new #30 Pontiac GXP.R in the Grand-Am GT class in 2007 with an impressive line-up of drivers, including Grand-Am rookie, Drew Staveley.

Jon Mirachi and his DeLand, Florida-based Racers Edge Motorsports cut its competitive teeth in SCCA amateur racing and moved up the ranks into the Sports Toyota Championship and most recently provided cars to competitors in the Star Mazda Series. The team has a successful history dating back to its origination in 1990, and has won championships in every race series they have participated in, including four professional championships and seven amateur titles.

This year Racers Edge Motorsports will campaign a Mazda RX-8. Look for Drew behind the wheel starting with the season opener - the 24 Hours of Daytona!
